Firstly I think we’d all agree that having had the misfortune of having to cancel the 1st event due to the bad weather and then possibly cancelling the rearranged fixture for the same reason would have been unthinkable, but thanks to Dan Moor and his team of Glenn, Bev and Jo, we were able to go ahead with what was a fantastically organised mornings racing, to all who helped clear the car park the day before, also to Mick Coe, who managed to tape off the entire grounds of Littlwemoor Park by himself, to all the marshals who braved the cold for 3 hours, Andy Smith for tail running for us and to all who baked, you managed to raise a fantastic £80 for the club.
To everybody involved in the raffle in particular to our new sponsors Walker Singleton for providing the hamper, won by Sally Caton of Stainland Lions (is there anything they don’t win).
On to the racing, and didn’t we do well? After a pre race jog on the spot courtesy of David Hepworth followed by a 3,2,1 GO, the race was under way, a few laps of Littlemoor before runners made their way out towards Shelf/Northawram then back into the park, it was Tom who led the way for Queensbury closely followed by Alistair.
The tough snowy on course conditions kept all runners happy, many of them offering a ‘thank you marshall’ as they shot passed, which made all the difference to us all, although Pete Hughes didn’t look too pleased when I told him to put some effort in.
All the credit though on this occasion, goes to the hard work put in by all the volunteers that helped to get the race going.
WELL DONE ALL
