Queensbury Running Club produce two GB age group athletes.

Both Terri Mason and Andrew Dovernor have qualified for the ITU world duathlon championships in Townsville Australia to be held in 2022.

Terri qualifying in the sprint distance which consists of a 5km run, 20km Bike followed by a 2.5km run. Andrew in the standard distance comprising of 10km run 40km bike and 5km run and both will be competing against age groupers from all around the world.

Andrew joined Queensbury Running Club in 2016 and Terri in 2017 and regularly attend club runs, and put their success down to the commitment of the coaches and qualified run leaders of the club.

Andrew has always been a runner and keen cyclist however Terri only began to run and cycle when she met Andrew back in 2017. However, has only been able to train seriously since June 2020.

Throughout lock down they have trained together day in day out making the most of the restrictions positively as everyone was encouraged to exercise which meant running and cycling for these two

QRC kept club members motivated by encouraging members to climb mountains, visit local sites, and virtual competitions, which suited their competitive nature, with Terri setting personal bests week in week out, and now outside sports facilities have reopened are attending weekly track sessions and running groups organised by QRC.

Terri to her surprise hadn’t anticipated qualification being possible despite her improving performances throughout the last 12 months and completed her sprint duathlon qualifying race at Croft Circuit on 12th April in a time of 1hr 15mins and 59 seconds.

On qualifying it was decided that Andrew should try and do the same so Terri entered Andrew into the Ashridge Estate Duathlon in Hertfordshire on Saturday 1st May which he finished in 2hrs 11mins and 42 seconds and secured a qualifying position to follow in Terri’s footsteps. Both will represent Great Britain in their respective age groups in Australia in 2022.
