Wharfedale off-road half marathon – Saturday 4th June 2022.

The 19th running of the Wharfedale off-road half marathon took place on Saturday 4th June. It’s a well organised race over varied terrain with some demanding climbs, especially up Mastiles Lane.

Gary Rowling, in his first race as an M40 came in 9th overall, in 1 hour 41.44, nearly six minutes quicker than his previous outing in 2019, and within a minute of the M40 prize winner. Joe Prest (24th) ran an impressive 1 hour 47.03 in his first running of this race. Mick Coe (26th) was 2nd M55 in 1 hour 49.13. Carl Heron (42nd), on his 8th running of the race, was 2nd M60 in 1 hour 54.44. Simon Brady (45th) was 5th M55 in 1 hour 55.45.

The men’s course record was broken by Chris Holdsworth (Clayton-le-Moors Harriers) in 1 hour 23.09.

Credit to Carl Heron for the words, many thanks.
