AGM 2020 UPDATE

We know you’ve all been waiting keenly to hear an update from us following last Thursday’s virtual AGM so let us not keep you in suspense any longer!

You’ll be glad to know that the minutes of last year’s AGM were approved.

We can also confirm that, after holding an online election, the following people will continue in their Committee Officer post for the next term of one year:

  • Chairperson – Stephen Brook
  • Secretary – Lynn Hill
  • Treasurer – Andrew Dovernor (also Club Kit Manager)
  • Welfare Officer – Nicola Smith
  • Coaching Coordinator – Phillip Whettlock
  • Race Director Glenn Thornton

They are joined by returning supporting officers Social Secretary Michelle Shepherd, Race Results Officer Neil Windle, and Awards Coordinator Andrew Stott, plus we’d like to welcome Philip Lickley on to the team as the Webmaster. You can find out more details about all these people and what they do at the club by visiting https://www.queensburyrc.co.uk/about-us/club-officers/

In other news, treasurer Andrew Dovernor has e-mailed everyone following the recent update about membership fees for 2020-21 confirming that, whilst QRC would like everyone to renew as soon as possible, if you feel that you are unable to do so in the current climate then England Athletics are maintaining their site and registration until 31st August 2020.

You should have received an invoice in your inbox which you can click on to pay whenever you are able. If you haven’t received an invoice please contact secretary Lynn Hill or for any other issues please e-mail Andrew.

Finally, before we let you get back to quizzes / running / setting your alarm for Joe Wicks, we’ll be using this down-time at the club to give the website and social media some digital polish and also coming up with some great ideas for the next year of QRC. If you have any ideas / thoughts / feedback / brilliant suggestions that we could bring to the website / social media / running club then please send them over to queensburyrc@gmail.com!

Thank you to all those who have re-joined the club for the year and to our new members. Please stay safe and we hope to welcome you back to QRC on Thursdays soon!

West Yorkshire 5 mile road race

Chris Williams earned a fine 2nd place to Jonathan Johnson (Harrogate Harriers). The women’s race was won by UK Net Runner, Hannah Oldroyd in 31.11.

Run / Jog / Walk Group Update

Queensbury Beginners’ ladies and gents, WELL DONE!!!! I am SO proud of you ALL..each and EVERY one of you!! Last Thursday evening was the experience of a lifetime for me..it was a huge pleasure to journey with you, and my regular runner helpers, Carl, Craig and Graham, echo that very sentiment! Your enthusiasm was amazing!!..even after that “gentle” run/jog/walk!! Together we can, indeed, achieve a huge amount…you will all surely do so given your incredible keenness to embrace outdoor exercise in our beautiful local countryside! We made a lot of people notice what was going on!!..I think we have started a local “fashion”!! I can’t wait for next Thursday’s session!! THANK YOU. all of you..you have more than made my day.

Walk/Jog/Run Group Update

Not long to go to the first of 10 weekly training sessions for our beginners’ group!  I’ve asked for fine weather to be provided this Thursday evening! I’ll be at Queensbury Celtic Football Club’s Pit Lane headquarters from 1830 onwards. We will meet up in the clubhouse for registration, then, after some gentle mobilising exercises, take a 5 minute walk to the nice and flat Old Guy Road for fully supervised walking/jogging/running, for roughly one mile or 15 minutes. Please note that a lockable changing room will be provided each week, along with showers. See you on Thursday!
