Rock+Roll Marathon Weekend 27th/28th May

The Liverpool Rock ’n’ Roll Marathon attracted more than 20,000 runners to the event this year.

The participants hit the city streets for Sunday’s full and half marathons, a one mile fun run and also for Saturday’s 5K race, many international runners also joined those from Merseyside and around the UK who had signed up to pound the streets.

The routes took in Liverpool ’s world famous waterfront, Chinatown, Sefton Park and Merseyside’s two Premier League football grounds (obviously Anfield didn’t create too much excitement).

Julie Hepworth, Jo Fortune, Glenn Thornton and Micheal Herbertson all made the trip to Liverpool for the marathon, with Helen Gibbons running in the Half Marathon and Gill Jago running in the 5k, the club had plenty to cheer on over the weekends races.

1st up the 5k which Gillian ran in 26:05

Helen Gibbons ran a 3:06:32 Half Marathon or should I say 13.1 miles.

Unfortunatley Micheal had to pull out of the Marathon at mile 20 with an injury, hope your back soon and I’m sure it was the right decision.

This left Julie and Jo our seasoned pro’s to bring home Glenn on his 1st marathon experience with Julie finishing in a speedy 4:05:23, followed by Glenn in a superb 4:27:10 with Jo coming in at 5:07:53.

Well done to all who ran in particular Glenn in his 1st time at the marathon
