This 11 mile race started from Bury train station on the sound of the steam train’s whistle. Runners then set off North along trail paths running alongside the railway lines and Irwell River, and finishing at Rawtenstall Station. The train travelled South to the next station, changed tracks, then headed North, catching runners as it made it’s way to Rawtenstall station. Friends and family were able ride the train, cheering runners along their way.
Well done to Phillip Whetlock who finished 166th in a impressive time of 1:33:20
Did he beat the train? You’ll have to ask him.
[PW – yes, by over 6 minutes 😁]
