Withernsea 5 mile 1st July 2018

A well established 5 mile race. With a seafront start and finish and friendly atmosphere the race is ideal for both the newcomer to racing and seasoned athlete. The fast and flat course is ideal for setting a new PB.

You’ll never guess who made the long trip over to race this 5 miler.? Yes! once again ‘Stormin’ Steve Brook kept us all alive with his knowledge of all national races with this beauty all in aid of improving his RunBritain score.

Steve ran well and came home in 101st place in a blistering hot 40:59(tbc) but was in the wrong age category.

Well done anyway Steve, that’s super quick

Halifax Full+Half Marathon 1st July 2018

From leaving Dean Clough runners have their 1st climb within 100 metres up to Shroggs Road, before steadily climbing to the bottom of Brackenbed Lane, up they went again turning right at the top, then left and onto Moor End Road, which again is a tough climb to the top, following Moor End Road until turning right onto Clough Lane and the sprint through Mixenden, out of Mixy up Mill Lane taking a left onto White Gate, left at the top and slight downhill before a quick right at the bottom and up Rocks Lane, it is roughly here at the 6/7mile mark that Ned Hell Rd awaits them, ready to dish out some more punishment, then passing the Ragalds, onto Roper Lane, left onto Swales Moor Road, right onto Claremont Rd, down Mill Lane and back to Dean Clough.

Some fantastic running on the day provided some fantastic results with the ever impressive Jo Horan finishing as 1st female and also 2nd place overall, just 16 seconds behind the eventual winner, fab running Jo you really are running well.

Wasim finishing in 13th, Joanna Lockwood 18th, Keith Hayes 59th and Andy Smith 81st, over in the Marathon Martin Firth romped home to 5th place.

Great running by you all in tough conditions, with arguably the performances of the day coming from Jo Horan+Martin.
