Otley 10 mile 7th June 2017

Graham Rhodes and I headed over to Otley on Wednesday night, luckily for there was a break in the bad weather that we’ve been having, which meant a decent night for racing maybe a bit warm but better than getting soaked.

The race started out of a new housing development and out onto the main road towards Harrogate, turning left at approx 2 mile onto a quiet country lane, it was at 3.5 mile things got interesting with the road turning vertical, after this 1km climb we headed down to Lindley Bridge at 6.5 mile (with a time cut off of 90 mins) and our 2nd water station. For those of you who know me, apparently I only have ‘one hill’ in me so the next 600 metres are best forgotten about, with a nice descent back into Otley the pace quickened from everybody, a quick lap of the cricket pitch and over the finishing line.

A great race and very well organised.

91st Neil Windle (me) 1:13:40

111th Graham Rhodes 1:1549

A tip for anybody wanting to do it next year, get out of the blocks quick because the 1st 2 miles are run along narrow paths and overtaking is difficult.
