One of the UK’s well known, popular 10k’s, the Leeds Abbey Dash was back for its 34th year of running and the organisers were hoping for it to be the best yet. The 10k route is perfect for beginners and experienced runners alike, due to it’s flat, PB busting course.
The race, which incorporated the 2019 England Athletics 10km Championships, continued its reputation as one of the best-quality 10km events in Britain as the first 29 men broke 30 minutes on chip time. while the 1st 26 ladies all ran sub 35 minutes, just astonishing!!
The course, starting on Wellington Street heads out of the city along Kirkstall Rd to the Abbey, where runners turn and head back past the TV studio’s, over the flyover and onto the Headrow to finish in front of the town hall steps cheered on by hundreds of spectators lining the finish area.
We had 8 members involved with Gary Rowling leading the pack home, with Martin Firth just 21 seconds adrift.
