At committee level we have taken the decision to leave our present ‘running home’ with immediate effect. The Golf Club have given us no alternative as a sudden extraordinary and truly unaffordable price increase to use their premises as a meeting point and changing facilities was due to be imposed.
Despite members of the Committee meeting with Golf Club officials they have refused to take on board our own proposals and affordability. As known, we are a ‘not for profit’ running club, with all subscriptions being used to provide reduced cost kit, Social occasions, as well as afford entry to Club Relay Races.
We have also invested heavily in Run Leaders, and Phillip Whettlock is now our ‘official qualified’ coach. Thursday 28th March will be our last run from the Golf Club, with all future runs starting from ‘The Raggalds’ where parking is available, as well as them providing an indoor meeting point for us, when required.
Our first run from the Raggalds will be Thursday 4th April, where we will also look to buy you your first drink (AFTER YOUR RUN; NOT BEFORE)!! Your ‘Run Leader will inform you of any other start point, as this date may also be our pilgrimage ‘to the gate’.
Unfortunately, there are no showers available at The Raggalds, but they are happy for us to use their bar. Andy Dovernor is looking at some availability of showers on Fleet Lane, and will report shortly.
The club AGM is now back on the agenda, and will take place on Thursday 18th April @ The Raggalds, immediately after our club run – Circa 20.00, and Chip butties will be provided.
A further announcement will be made with regards to our AWARDS NIGHT very shortly.
We believe that The Raggalds is not a perfect solution, and therefore ask that you bear with us until a new permanent home with excellent facilities can be sourced. The Raggalds is only a short term solution. Thank you all for your continued support and understanding.
