Whilst the Brownlee brothers were making all the headlines last Sunday, our very own Simon Thomas was making waves of his own taking on the Olympic length race in Leeds. Moving up from the Sprint triathlon that Simon raced back in April to Olympic length is a great achievement and Simon raced with all guns a blazing.
Simon finished in a respectable 836th out of 874 and 12/14 in the 65-70 age category. Swimming in windy conditions Simon breezed through 1500m in 41:20, followed by a 40km cycle in 1:33:11 finishing with a 10km run in 1:01:21. With a total finish time of 3:30:38 (full results below).
Simon thoroughly encourages anyone thinking of trying a Triathlon to go for it and I’m sure this won’t be Simon’s last.
Well done Simon keep at it, you’re going great.
