Well done to all our Parkrunners this weekend, some fantastic PB’S, a 1st place at Horton for Paul and a great comeback from Tom.
After 70 Saturdays of no Parkruns and lazy Saturday lie ins, Parkrun made its welcome return and what a fantastic turnout for QRC at all our local events. We had PB’s galore showing the great effort in training over the last 16 months that our members have put in.
As always these events could not go ahead without the volunteers so well done to them too.
At Shroggs we had 4 PB’s and a club V40 record (17:24) from Paul Greenwood. In Brighouse we had Doddy 1st lady and another club record in the open category (20:16). At Horton Park Chris Lane booked his taxi early and I bet he’s glad he did achieving a 1st place finish and a PB of 20:05.
Well done to everybody who got up early to enjoy their local Parkrun and lets hope they can continue. All results can be found on the Parkrun website
In Horton’s 2nd week of virtual 5k’s, it was left to Queensbury to take the podium with a 1, 2, 3 finish, well done to all who took part with 5 Queensbury runners in the top 12. If you fancy a mention run a 5k anytime on a Saturday and post your strava/other platform time on their fb in their post and they’ll do the rest, happy running.
Bowling Park was the venue of today’s awayday and an awesome 20 of us turned up for that all important raffle ticket from Steve. Today was their 6th Parkrun and what a great course it is, pretty tough with a short steep climb.
With 3 PB’s and a course record to boot it was a great morning for QRC so well done to Phil Lickley (24.09), Steve Brook (25.36), Steve Wilby (31.51) and Tom Collinge (16.25 CR)
In other news
No other PB’s, you should’ve come to Bowling 😀😀
Our 10th fixture of our winter championship took us over to Roberttown for the Liversedge Half, in very windy conditions 10 QRCers took on this undulating half marathon.
The race run by Roberttown Road Runners is run annually in mid February. Runners leave the picturesque village green of Roberttown heading towards Liversedge before turning left and onto the main road crossing over the M62, then heading down to Balliff Bridge, before climbing back into Clifton and onto the long ascent back to the main road over the M62 taking a right and following the last 3 miles on country lanes and back in the village green.
Awesome running by all and well done if you achieved a PB, congrats to Martin on finishing as 1st MV60.

Well done the the 6 members who made it to Selby for our latest awayday, the flattest Parkrun in the country we were told by a lady from Selby Striders, to which Steve replied ‘ah well we’re the highest running club in the country’ you tell em Steve. Anyway after a quick swim you the start line off we went on this flat out and back course around the airfield, well done to Paul in taking 1st place.
Congrats to Lynne Robinson on her PB at Lister Park, great running.
For the 2nd week running there were no Parkrun PB’s to show off about, but well done to Chris Lane on his fastest ever 5k at Lister Park (21:02).
Well done to the 26 of you that made the effort.
