Doncaster 10k 28th Nov 2021

This flat fast 10k returns after 2020’s virtual affair and this year 2500 runners were welcomed to run. a change of start meant runners started to the rear of the racecourse heading out towards the town centre on closed roads, following a loop at the council offices before returning to the racecourse for a grandstand finish.

Amy McKechnie had a stormer of a run smashing her own club record from Rochdale earlier in the year to finish in a speedy 40:39 and 4th in her age category.

Well done Amy

WYWL Puma’s Race 2, 21st Nov 2021

‘The Puma’s have a good old fashioned cross country course, with woods, fields and a bit of road, all on a slope of some sort. What makes it such a memorable course is that minutes before the start of of the last Puma’s race, a blizzard occurred and the entire race was run in a snowstorm. A lot of cars needed rescuing out of the car park afterwards! The clear skies represented a foreshadowing of another flurry, but fortunately no repeat occurred’ said Alistair Galt in his post race interview.

QRC had one of it’s best performances in the race managing to beat the likes of Baildon + Stainland in some fiercely contested categories, with QRC finishing 2nd in the Male, Vets and Overall (59 points shy of 1st) categories, with the ladies a superb 4th and the Super Vets with top spot.

Dewsbury awaits us next and we all know what that means. KILLER HILLS!!

Well done to you all, !

Humpday 5+10K’s 3Rd, 10Th, 17Th Nov 2021

During November the up and coming race organisers RunAble team set up this event, a fantastic series of races starting the 3rd Nov for 3 weeks, a good local race starting and finishing in Brighouse, check them out on Facebook, we even have a discount code to use when entering their events ‘DR2021’

The 10k starting in Brighouse running out along Elland Rd reaching Elland then back on the riverside and canal bank, the 5k follows the same route but turns left down to the canal earlier on Elland Rd.

We had Jo Horan racing in the 10k’s and Giles Cook racing the 5k’s, both had a great 3 races with some good finish times, unfortunatly Jo had a moment in the 1st race and decided to run her own route therefore her result was classed as a DNF 🙈🙈🙈

Race 1, 2 + 3 – 25:39, 24:39, 25:12

Race 1, 2 + 3 – 41:48(DNF), 45:25, 43:37

Well done to you both.

WYWL Baildon Race 1, 7th November 2021

A big thanks to Baildon for hosting the 1st race of this years series, very well marshalled and well organised event well done to you all.

A damp and blustery morning (so I’m told) 441 runners lined up for the 10.30 start. As it was last time out this years event started on the edge of the 18th fairway which helped to stretch the crowds out enabling runners to find their momentum and get into their stride. A hilly and sometimes technical course meant full concentration was required at all times to avoid any nasty falls.

A good turnout from Queensbury albeit with a few runners missing through injury and holidays meant a decent presence around the village.

Full team results below and excellent results they are, well done to everybody who took part

Wadsworth Trog 14Th Nov 2021

A local classic taking in all the best terrain of the full Trog, without the full distance. Plenty of varied tough terrain and perhaps a bit of mud!!!!

Partially flagged race route over 9.3 miles and 1400ft of clumbing.

Carl Heron was out on the moors racing for Queensbury finishing well in 1:38:30 and 49th place, well done Carl

Windmill 10k 14Th Nov 2021

A fast and flat course on the coastal front of Lytham, starting on Lytham Green next to the Windmill itself. A two minute silence was observed before the start of the race for Remembrance Sunday.

Steve Brook finished in a very fast 49:57, 4th V70 in 269th position

Well done Steve
