English Riviera Triathlon 4th July 2021

Although they didn’t run for QRC , I just thought that in a world when we can be anything I thought I would ‘Be Kind’

The English Riviera Triathlon, formerly the Geopark Triathlon,  starts with a great sea swim in the warm waters of Goodrington Sands. Then it’s onto the bikes for a challenging loop around the Torbay area and finally a stunning out and back off-road coast run over towards Brixham.

Be warned it’s a tough course. The first sections of the bike courses are rolling but eventually you hit Parliament Hill which averages 11 percent and another climb before the super-fast descent towards the finish. The run course is also tough with some steep hills & steps to contend with.

Husband and wife (lol) Terri Mason and Andy Dovernor finished off their holiday with this BRUTAL course, Terri raced the sprint event (750m, 24k, 6k) and Andy the standard distance (1500m, 44k, 12k) they both did fantastic finishing 1st in their age categories.

Well done champs

Endure 24 July 2021

What a weekend our members had at Branham Park, we had 3 teams entered in this 24 hour race, Quintessentially QRC, In it for the long run and Shepherds flock. With idea been that teams have 24 hours to run as many 5 mile laps as they can within the required time limit, with 1 team member having to be on the course at all times.

Obviously things did not go to plan with a gentle shower shutting the course down for a few hours on Saturday evening but as soon as things settled the course was reopened at 12:45am.

So out of 59 teams in 12th place were Quintessentially QRC consisting of Andy Young, Wasim, Julie H, Matt Dodds, Richard Newberry and Jo Fortune running 30 laps with Richard having the fastest lap with a 35:52.

In the same category finishing 26th were In it for the long run with team members Vicky Trudgil, Zoe Hipwell, Lee Hipwell (Wacko Jacko), Matt Thornton, Dave Rhodes and Glenn completing 26 laps with Matt running the fastest lap in 36:55.

With only 5 members Shepherds Flock finished 52nd from 65 teams, team members were Phil Lee, Tamara, Michelle Shepherd, Jen and Nicola Smith who all manage to complete 17 laps with Phil managing the fastest lap with a 46:34.

Well done to you all it looked like you all had a jolly good time.
