Busy Runner’s Weekend – 25/09/16

Evening runners,

Great to see many of our members have been running races around the world this weekend.

Locally we had the Stainland Trail, which is a tough 10k trail race around the valleys of Stainland.

We had Peter Hughes power home in 49:46 which grabbed him 1st M60 and 5th overall.
Stacey Cleal make the 6.2mi slog in 58:07 which was also a 1st in her category, F45, and 38th overall.
Andy Smith completed the trio with a time of 70:15 and 91st overall.
128 runners took part so well done to all.

We also had a couple of our runners take part in the Kelda 10k for WaterAid; a 10k around Scammonden Dam.
Charlotte Charlesworth made it round in 1:01:46 and her husband Ben Charlesworth made completed it in 47:13.
Well done, guys.

Going slightly further afield we had Leanne Alston run the Stafford 10k in all the fives; 55:55. You go girl.

Steve Brook did the Rochdale 10k in 50.39 earning him the 2nd V65.

Lucy Reynolds ran in the Rochdale Half Marathon and earned her medal in 2:53:45. Well done, Lucy.

Travelling a little further out we arrive in Germany and we congratulate Lynne Robinson and David Hunt on completing the BMW Berlin Marathon in stupidly fast times, the pair of them.
Lynne came to rest after an impressive 3:20:37 and David achieved a time I could only dream of; 2:45:17.
Amazing running and your training strategy clearly worked.

Finally, not quite running but equally impressive, Ben Clare did the Three Peaks Cyclocross race in 4:30:29. It was a 37mi ride with over 7000ft of climbing. For those that done know what Cyclocross is, well, its basically a race over every terrain imaginable, even terrains thats are unrideable, forcing you to quickly dismount and carry your bike over tricky terrain until you can resume. Bonkers! Well done, sir!

As always, drop me a line if I’m missed anyone out. If not, I’m off for a bucks fizz.
