The club night out will still take place on Friday 1st August at 7pm BUT by popular demand the initial meeting place has been altered to the Jacobs Well pub for a variety of reasons including it being nearer to the bus stops for those traveling by public transport.
Sorry for the late change but it was only agreed between those attending the Yorkshire Veterans race at Crossgates on Wednesday evening.
This was a really friendly and enjoyable event with breathtaking views of hills covered with heather and bilberries from two of the highest summits in the Cheviots. There was an ear-popping descent from the Great Cheviot before climbing back up Hedgehope Hill, and little shelter from the heat in spite of a cool wind on the high ground and clear streams in the valleys. Amazingly the organisers had managed to transport water to all but one of the checkpoints!

Over 100 runners set out on a cold and wet Saturday morning to run the Sowerby Scorcher Trail race. With heavy rain falling the previous night and constant rain Saturday morning conditions under foot were very wet and muddy on all of the off road sections.
Craig Richardson was Queensbury’s only representative and finished in 52:46, coming 40th out of 101.
A well deserved tea and cake was had in the church hall afterwards.

Congratulations to Richard Brook on completing the London Marathon in 3 hours 44 minutes and forty seconds – through half way in 1:48:41 – to finish 7274th overall, 5955th male runner and 3123rd in his age category.
The highest running club in England, probably.
