This race series is put together by Airedale Athletics which is a joint venture between 5 local running clubs, Baildon, Eccleshill, Bradford Airedale, Saltaire Striders and ourselves QueensburyRC formed many years ago to give all 5 clubs help and advice when needed.
The Airedale Athletics AGM is held twice a year, with last one on Wednesday just gone, which was attended by representatives of each club, the only thing they do ask for are marshals at Bradford run events such as the City Runs and the Epilepsy 10k.
Each season (summer+winter) they organise a series of races that anybody affiliated to each club can enter, points are scored by adding up the times of the 1st 3 runners home and then taking an average, thus giving all other finishers points based on a percentage of the average (don’t ask).
We feel this would be a good way of using the races as a Queensbury club championship as well as been able to compete against other runners in our perspective age categories.
Last year’s winter seasons offerings were as follows
A: Withins Skyline (Oct 9), B: Great Whernside (Oct 22) JOKER, C: Cop Hill (Nov 6), D: Harriers vs Cyclists (Nov 12), E: Wadsworth Half Trog (Nov 13) JOKER, F: Chevin Chase (Dec 26), G: Giants Tooth (Jan 1), H: Stanbury Splash (Jan 15), I: Wadsworth Trog (Feb 4) JOKER, J: Windy Hill Fell Race (Feb 12), K: Midgley Moor (Feb 25) JOKER, L: Heptonstall (Mar 19) JOKER.
