Apart from actually running, most members of QRC have at least one other thing in common - they tend to enjoy a pint - and it tends to be real ale at that!

Many of our social activities are based on the Pineberry Inn. This is on the left-hand side of the Brighouse and Denholme Road, about 1/2 a mile from Queensbury traffic lights when travelling towards Thornton and Denholme.

The Pineberry is an unspoilt pub with a welcoming atmosphere that also serves good food at reasonable prices. More importantly they also serve a decent range of real ales, the current ones being Greene King Abbot Ale (5% and a favourite with most members); Black Sheep (3.8%) and Jennings Cumberland Ale (3.8%).

After club runs on a Thursday it is part of the club's tradition to retire to the Pineberry for a well-earned pint or so. We usually arrive between 20:30 and 21:00 and stay until 22:00-22:30. Any interested runners or indeed members of other clubs are welcome to join us. If you hang around until 22:30 then you can also have a free chip butty!

AGMs are a necessary evil and ours is held in mid-February. However, to make it more palatable it is held in the side dining room at the Pineberry after a Thursday night club run. A "half time" buffet is provided by the pub and paid for by the club.

Twice a year - usually around mid-summer and early December we have a three course meal at the Pineberry where the full cost (apart from drinks) is paid for by the club. The club has also been known to pay for taxis home afterwards. These are always popular events as the food served by the Pineberry is excellent.

Additionally, in the run up to Christmas and occasionally during the summer, we often arrange a night out based on a traditional ale type of pub and follow this up with a curry. Venues for these occasions have included both the Fighting Cock and Corn Dolly pubs in Bradford as well as the Three Pidgeons and Pumphouse in Halifax.
