The Full Bronte 5 is this Thursday, 6th June. Start time is 7:30. Quite a few Queensbury members will be racing this fast 5 mile race if anybody else fancies it.

Two more mid-week races in quick succession with the Apperly Bridge Canter and the YVAA at Bingley.
Peter Hughes was first back for Queensbury at the ABC, taking first place V55 in an impressive 37:46. Next home was recent recruit Ben Clare, whose been impressing with his improving times and finished this 10k under the benchmark 40 minutes in 39:24. Mick Coe was not far behind in 40:45 closely followed by Carl Heron 41:02, Richard Brook 43:22 on the back of a John Carr 5k the previous night, Anna Smith 45:42 and Lee Hipwell 46:36. The Bingley Vets race was on Tuesday evening, and I imagine was a very wet course? Anna Smith scored well with an 11th place finish and 2nd F45. Darren Midgely was first back for the men in 38:20 and 2nd in his V35 category, Pete Hughes again took 1st V55 in 39:28, Mick Coe 41:30, Carl Heron 47:16 and Graham Jowett 48:19 made up the rest of the team. Over 100 runners set out on a cold and wet Saturday morning to run the Sowerby Scorcher Trail race. With heavy rain falling the previous night and constant rain Saturday morning conditions under foot were very wet and muddy on all of the off road sections.
Craig Richardson was Queensbury’s only representative and finished in 52:46, coming 40th out of 101.
A well deserved tea and cake was had in the church hall afterwards.

Congratulations to Richard Brook on completing the London Marathon in 3 hours 44 minutes and forty seconds – through half way in 1:48:41 – to finish 7274th overall, 5955th male runner and 3123rd in his age category.
The Bunny Runs series begins Tuesday April 2 at 7pm. These are 5k approx fell races. Great fun and run through April.
