Thanks to Woodentops for the great photos as always
Stainland Lions new trail race took place on Sunday and was well attended by Queensbury. A long list of honours in the results as well starting with Mick Coe’s top 10 finish and first place V45, strong runs also from Phil Robinson (52:11, 18th), Carl Heron (52:30, 22nd), with Anna Smith (54:43, 33rd) taking first place in her category, Graham Jowett (58:00, 48th) claimed second place in his category as well, Jo Horan (58:42, 52nd) and first place in her category, Dylan Hayes (01:02:18, 70th) and Andrew Tempest-Mitchell (01:04:45, 84th).
Many thanks to Stainland Lions for a great new race to add to the calendar.
On Saturday Chris Williams ran in the 15 mile Good Shepherd fell race, starting in Mytholmroyd. A much stronger field than the previous year showed as Chris finished 5 minutes quicker than last time around and 17 places lower in 22nd. Misty conditions on the moors didn’t help and a missed turning on London Road cost some time and effort! A great route though taking in Stoodley Pike twice from different climbs.
Phil Robinson battled the tough conditions on Sunday in the Shibden Spinner Sportive, a 90 mile cycle starting from Shibden with the first climb being Lee Lane! He finished 3rd place after 6:32:38 on the bike! Conditions were so tough, Phil said he was out of the seat pedalling hard on a gradual incline near Scammonden Dam and was still only hitting 4mph! Although he made up for this reaching 48mph downhill with the following tailwinds!
Queensbury had two runners in the Great North Run, Ben Clare, who finished in 1:31:30 & Andrew Tempest-Mitchell who finished 2:04:16. Both said the huge crowds of runners made the race difficult but enjoyed the event!

Five Queensbury runners took part in the out and back Spen Greenway 10k. Darren Midgely just missed out on breaking the 37 minute barrier, finishing 8th in 37:06, very closely followed by Martin Firth, who despite his impressive time of 37:22 was still pushed back to 3rd in the V50 category! Carl Heron was back in slightly over 40 minutes, finishing 26th in 40:39. Richard Brook achieved a new personal best for the distance in 42:53, taking a big chunk from his last time round, completing the team was Steve Wilby in 96th in 53:05
