Organised by Otley Athletic Club, the race is now in its 29th year and more than 400 runners were ready to tackle the hilly route that starts on Mill Way, off Gallows Hill, before heading to Pool-in-Wharfedale, Leathley, Lindley and Farnley and finishing at Otley Cricket Club.
Having run this race last year I can vouch for what a fantastic challenging route it is, deffinatly a must do race.
We’ll done to Joanne Lockwood for competing in the orange and green, finishing well in 205th place, 7th in her age category in a time of 1:21:26.
Well done speedy.
Just 6 QRCers headed over to Northawram last Sunday for the 3rd running of the Burner formally held in Sowerby Bridge. This years race will be it’s last time in Northawram as the event is due to move to a new school base in the Calderdale area, let’s hope that the standards set by the Puma’s and all involved at the primary school continue and the race continue’s to grow into a good tough local race.
The Northawram race is a tough off/on road 10k taking Tan House Lane, Green Lane, Deanstones and Whiskers Lane making a total assent of over 800ft,
Well organised by the Puma’s, a good tough race, with 198 finishers it was our very own ‘Tornedo’ Tom who took the win with a gap of over 2.5 minutes to 2nd place.
1st Tom Collinge 38:28
10th Paul Greenwood 43:50
24th Graham Rhodes 49:41
34th Richard Brook 52:35
78th Steve Brook 59:31
98th Craig Bingham 1:01:44
Well done lads, great running.
The School Run part of the South Huddersfield Road and Trail Run series, is a scenic and challenging course entirely off road. Run down from Holme School to Digley reservoir on little known paths before running a figure of 8 shaped course on hilly and varied trails. Climb back to finish. Approx 9km and over 880ft of climbing
Well done to Joanne Lockwood for taking part and finishing in 52:47 (strava). I’ll update when results appear Joanne.
This is a delightful 10K fell race run over trail and open moorland starting in Hebden Bridge, with a steep climb up to Stoodley Pike and back, and suitable for experienced fell runners and newcomers to the sport.
Delightful, 10k and fell should never be mentioned in the same sentence but that’s just my opinion, luckily for QRC Lee and Mick for some reason enjoy this sort of thing and headed over to Hebden for this race.
10th Lee Shaw 48:25
34th Mick Coe 55:08
We’ll done great running over a very tough course. Sorry for the lack of photo’s lads.
As mentioned previously, we ran amazingly in our debut LCW Relay, finishing in 6th place out of a field of 50 teams. The 6 leg trail race takes in the countryside surrounding Leeds on this 62 mile circular footpath.
Well done to our runners;
Lee Shaw and Immy Asghar
