Bluebell Trail 13th May 2018

The annual Bluebell hosted by Stainland, enjoyed by many with it’s infamous Trooper Lane climb at 4 miles, then once Trooper has zapped your energy every other hill no matter how small seems to feel just as tough.

At the 3/4 point of Trooper there was a chance for our runners to get some support from the QRC fanzone where David Hepworth shouted at them at over 200db. (I’m certain I could still hear him later that night) A much needed water station at the top, before the steady ascent up to Beacon Hill over looking Halifax. From here it’s around the moors up and down before exiting at Southawram Cricket Club and heading back through the bluebell laden woods into Elland, along the canal bank and taking a refreshing dip in the river, up the banking and back into Heath Rugby Club where the finishing line awaits.

All our guys ran really well, but with Tom feeling the burn after his efforts midweek it was not to be his day this year, although 15th is still more than most could hope for.

A couple of age category wins for Simon Brady (MV50) and Pete May (MV60) certainly helped to boost morale, with Simon left wondering what could have been had he started running at an earlier age.

Well done guys, fab performances supporting a local race.
