The penultimate race of the season down at Stainland last Sunday saw Tom Collinge storm to a well deserved victory, finishing 1st place ahead of Micheal Maylon of Baildon proving that hard work and commitment to training really does pay off, huge congrats to Tom but like any true sportsman I’m sure he was more interested in the overall team performance.
There were other noticeable strong runs too with Alistair Gait coming home in 4th place(2nd QRC) his best finish of the season so far, followed by Mick Coe who romped home in 25th place (3rd QRC) managing to overtake 4 other QRCers in the last half mile (I’m sure this won’t be the last we’ll here about this).
With Simon Brady, Mark Crabtree, Andy Dovenor and Pete Hughes next in, closely followed by Carl Heron there must have been some good racing banter between them all, most probably from Pete H who will say he was taking it easy. All this enabling the mens team to take joint 2nd place with Stainland, a great result for us, unfortunately the ladies didn’t fair too well finishing 10th, but with only Stacey, Jo and Zoe running they did a fantastic job on the day.
All in all a great mornings racing with Stainland Lions organising another superb event. It’s now onto Queensbury for the final race of the series this coming Sunday with promises of the best ever raffle prizes in the history of raffle prizes.
