Starting from Meltham Community Sports Centre this race described as ‘Tough’ in its title certainly lived up to its name, with a field of 330ish runners toeing the start line we were soon off and out of the sport centre grounds, at approximately 100 metres came the 1st of many uphill sections, taking us up to the main road.
A kilometre in and things started to get real serious, as the leaders sped off into the distance us mere age groupers were left to tackle the next 2 miles of climb taking us past Blackmoorfoot Resevoir and on towards the golf club. After a few more steady ascents and descents in a headwind that left everybody looking for the wide guy in an attempt to get some drafting in, it was onto the final downhill 1.5 km back into Meltham and back to the Sports Centre.
Run of the day goes to Steve Brook for his 1st place in the MV70
A great race, well organised by MelthamAC and great support from all the marshalls on the course.
Surprising how quickly you forget the pain of running uphill, so I’d like you all to experience it, so next year this race will included in my proposed Winter Club Champs Season. How lucky you are !!
