Hebden Bridge Mini Mountain Marathon

After a recent trip away to discover and learn more about Fell running Matt Fielding entered himself into the Inaugural Hebden Bridge Mini Mountain Marathon, obviously to put what he had learnt to the test.

The event is a 3 hour running score event over some of West Yorkshire’s finest countryside and moorland. With Orienteering/Nav/Score event experience preferred and with full FRA kit requirement & checks on the day, Matt certainly was going to be tested on what turned out to be a scorcher of a day.

Matt’s navigation went well apart from a few mistakes giving him barbed wire fences and walls to negotiate, Matt found Wandsworth moor slow going due to tussocks and bogs, his last climb up Spring Woods slowed him down a fair bit, thus costing him penalty points for exceeding the 3 hour time limit. Unfortunately there are no official results listed online but Matt assure’s me that he will be the 1st to enter next years event.

Well done Matt
