Beginners’ Group make “cool” work of hot weather!

The evening of Thursday July 17 was very warm and humid…very testing conditions for runners of any standard. Our Beginners’ Group handled the weather extremely well, and had an excellent work out. The Intermediates, as in the previous week, ran to Keelham Corner, then down Thornton Road, onto the scenic Great North Trail, and returned to the clubhouse up notorious Pit Lane! As a result of additional assistance on the night from Queensbury Running Club’s regular athletes, this run was differentiated, with several sub-groups being catered for according to ability. Our Beginners’ Section had a lovely downhill jog/walk/run to Thornton Viaduct, then, after a little breather, worked extremely hard in returning to the clubhouse via Headley Lane and Pit Lane – a continuous climb of 1.1 miles! The evening’s runs marked week 10, for our beginners, who are coming on in leaps and bounds, and are as enthusiastic as ever! Well done everyone, and special thanks to all our assistant run leaders!!
